Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background as an artist?
I’m a freelance illustrator, designer and muralist with a passion for working with organizations and businesses that create connections, build up communities and create positive change. My own artwork tends to be inspired by nature, connection and everyday moments in life, and has an uplifting and joyful energy.
Are you a cat person?
Yes! Though I’m more of a dog person 🤭
How did you come up with the concept for the cat design for this collaboration?
I wanted to create something very playful and whimsical that was inspired by how curious cats are. I also wanted to play with scale, so I used the flower to make the cats seem mini (which makes them even cuter!)
How does supporting causes like VOKRA align with your artistic values and goals?
I am always looking to create positive change with my work, so partnering with VOKRA was such an honour! Being able to create something In my own artistic style for such a good cause is a true dream project!
In what ways do you think art can make a positive impact on organizations like VOKRA and the community?
For organizations and communities alike, art creates an opportunity for connection and can play such an important role in clearly communicating their values and messages.
What message or feelings do you hope people will take away when they see and wear the T-shirts featuring your design?
I hope people feel a deep appreciation for cats and the love, joy and comfort they bring us. I also hope the cute and playful design brings a smile to people who wear and see the design.
Are there any upcoming projects or initiatives that you are excited about?
Yes! I’ll be painting a mural for the Steveston community at their outdoor pool this summer :) I love creating public art in the summertime, and hope to work with even more communities and organizations before the summer is over!
