Happy Tails: Ally & Mohammed

In this instalment of Happy Tails, Mohammed tells us the story of how he came to adopt Ally, a stray kitty who came to VOKRA after she was found running around an apartment building by herself:

I feel like Ally adopted me as much as I adopted her. I officially adopted her on March 11, 2021 and brought her home on the 14th. Ally is named after Lady Gaga's character in A Star is Born. Now she's my star.

Ally (formerly named January) didn't have any existing medical conditions, but I was made aware of her nibbling behaviour, where she’d start nibbling on your hand when she gets excited.

Honestly, that hasn’t been an issue at all - if anything, I find it adorable. She never ever hurts me and I try my best to reinforce good habits with treats and bad habits with a firm no and walking away from the play session.

Ally loves sitting on top of her cat tree and looking out of the window, but hates going in the enclosed balcony or even outside the apartment door. She takes indoor kitty to a whole new level.

When Mohammed met Ally

Ally stood out because, have you looked at her? She's gorgeous!! Plus her birthday’s one day before mine. Even though I only saw her once on a video call, I instantly decided she’s the one, she won my heart immediately and still rules it.

Ally has become the best part of my life and the best decision I ever made. She’s everything you can ever ask for in a pet, she's warm, playful, healthy, adorable and drop dead beautiful.

What Ally loves the most

She has about seven beds, one giant cat tree, a laser robot, interactive feeders, a treat ball, feather wands, wall scratchers and robo mice at her disposal. But her favorite, I think, is the kicker fish toy which flaps around when touched. She plays with that one for hours.

Oh boy, there are so many cute and funny things Ally does. She grooms me when she's grooming herself around me. She comes close to my face, rubs her nose on mine and then goes to groom my hands (my heart melts away every time).

She also uses her hands like silverware sometimes to eat her wet food and it's so cute.

I couldn't possibly think of any other organization that does as much as VOKRA. I've said this to almost everyone I know, VOKRA’s not in the business of providing pets to adopters but instead they’re in the business of changing lives. The pet's life and the adopter's life.

VOKRA has certainly changed my life by bringing Ally into it.
